‘Praxis solar technology powers luxury motor yachts’

‘Praxis Solar Technology’s nano-composite solar skin, developed since 2008, powers superyachts from Riviera, Grand Banks and Palm Beach, cutting generator use without compromising design.’

‘A technology proven years ahead of the industry’

‘Praxis Solar Technology’s nano-composite solar skin was pioneered more than a decade before solar-integrated surfaces became an industry talking point. Its intellectual property was first filed in 2008, the product of 18 years of research, and the technology now powers yachts built by Riviera, Grand Banks and Palm Beach.’

‘Unlike a conventional rigid panel, bolted on top as an afterthought, the nano-composite skin can be laminated into a hull, hardtop or deck at the mould stage, becoming structural and load-bearing, or fitted as a retrofit. At less than 2mm thick and up to 85% lighter than a rigid rooftop panel, it is walkable and can be moulded across complex curves.’

‘Every surface that sees the sun can capture energy and we build the technology that proves it. Praxis was never trying to just build a better solar panel. We reconceived what a solar panel could be, and we demonstrated it in the toughest operating environment there is – the open ocean. The brands who partnered with us early are already ahead. The rest of the industry is only just starting to ask the questions we answered years ago,’ Rory Linehan, Chief Executive Officer, Praxis (former BAE Systems and McLaren)

‘Riviera integrates solar skin into every hardtop at build stage’*

‘Praxis and Riviera, one of the world’s largest yacht builders, began working together several years ago to build solar generation into its yachts without altering their design. The solar skin is now engineered into every Riviera hardtop at the design stage, with retrofit available to existing owners. Riviera has tracked a 75% reduction in diesel generator use, with some owners anchoring off-grid for up to three days.’*

‘Our goal was simple – to reduce generator hours and elevate the owner experience without compromising design. It becomes part of the yacht’s DNA, not an accessory,’

Dan Henderson, Design & Engineering Director, Riviera Yachts

‘Praxis solar panels have been integrated into the hardtop of my new Riviera 6800 Sport Yacht so well that you barely know it’s there. In combination with a substantial lithium battery setup, the Praxis solar system allows me to run my yacht’s onboard systems and appliances in silence, to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature at anchor,’ Jason, owner of ‘Valhalla’
