Long before Praxis became known to yacht builders, its structural nano-composite solar technology had already been developed and tested across a series of Government Defence applications spanning Land, Sea, and Air. Much of that work remains classified today. What can be said is significant: that those programmes proved that Praxis’ nano-composite solar technology can withstand the most demanding environment at sea – considerably harsher than the environment encountered by any other commercial market.
Proven where failure was never an option
Defence programmes do not rely on a technology showing promise; they test it under conditions built specifically to expose its limits. Praxis’s structural nano-composite solar technology was put through exactly that standard – structural load, extreme environmental exposure, and reliability requirements where failure was not acceptable.

Confidential world firsts
Several of Praxis’s achievements during this period were world firsts in structural composite solar technology. None could be revealed at the time – the same confidentiality that protected the programmes also kept Praxis’s breakthroughs out of public view. Very few cutting-edge technology companies, make successful innovative breakthroughs and manage to stay silent about it, but Praxis did.
A familiar path for breakthrough technology
Defence has long been where transformative technology starts. Satellite navigation, early computer networking, and jet propulsion were all proven inside Defence programmes before benefitting the wider world. Praxis’s early years followed that same trajectory: proof first, recognition later.
Marine was the right stage, not the starting point
None of this changes why Praxis chose marine as its first public market; it confirms the choice was well-founded. By the time Praxis approached luxury yacht manufacturers, its technology was already validated and tested in some of the most demanding applications.
Marine was never where the risk was taken. It was where a proven technology was finally shown to the world.
“For Praxis’ formative years, we could prove what this technology could do and not publicise it. That is exactly why we could enter the marine market already certain of what we had. We were not hoping the technology would work – we already knew it would.”

The luxury motor yacht industry is now putting Praxis’ innovative nano-composite structural solar technology on the centre stage. This innovative ground-breaking solar solution has been successfully setting sail on board some of the world’s most-loved yacht brands such as Riviera Australia, Grand Banks and Palm Beach for the past few years.
These companies, from the luxury yachting industry to the Defence sector (now publicly known), have been building on a foundation that’s nearly twenty years in the making.
Now it’s time for the rest of the maritime industry to catch up.
